Internet Chapter Welcome

Welcome to our web site! You may be a bit confused about what exactly is the name of our Royal Arch Chapter?

Our name is “in transit” at the moment after members of the Internet Lodge No.9659 jumped in to assist the Manchester Epworth Holy Royal Arch Chapter which was suffering falling numbers and this will, we anticipate, be recognised when the Chapter name is changed to The Internet Chapter in the next few months.

The Internet Lodge, http://internet.lodge.org.uk/, was consecrated by The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) in 1998. It is a regular, recognised lodge that is open to any existing member of the UGLE, or any other Grand Lodge that is in amity with the UGLE. They hold a physical meeting in an approved English or Welsh Masonic centre three times a year, moving around the UGLE’s territory with each meeting. Contrary to popular belief, they do not actually meet over the Internet! The Lodge has members from all around the world and in 2003, I was Installed as the 6th Master.

Our plan is that the Internet Chapter will remain closely associated with the Lodge, holding our meetings on the same weekend and in the same location.

In the same way as the Lodge, The Internet Chapter will provide a central point of membership to Royal Arch Masons all over the world and we look forward to welcoming new Companions. Our primary aim is to foster “Masonry Universal” by enabling members of the Chapter to communicate and exchange ideas on a world-wide basis and to promote wider understanding of Royal Arch Freemasonry as it is practised in different Constitutions.

We hope to achieve this by providing an Internet-based environment in which members of the Chapter can work together and carry out Masonic research and collaborative projects across international boundaries.

Elsewhere on this site you will be able to find out more about Royal Arch Freemasonry and, of course, how you could go about becoming a member of this very special Chapter.

I look forward to welcoming you in person as a member some time in the future.

Excellent Companion Derek J. Oliver, PPGSwdB (Essex)
